Escendent, a full service professional services firm is seeking a Sr. Oracle DBA for our client which is located in Washington DC, Metro area. This is a contract position, 6 months to start. As long as your performance is strong, contract extension beyond 6 months is very high (this project is slated to go through 2011).

Note: U.S. citizenship required and you must be able to successfully complete a Federal background investigation (no sponsorship available).

Responsibilities & Requirements:
• At least 6 years experience as a Oracle DBA
• Strong experience with Oracle 10g
• Experience with RAC
• Develop application and data architecture work products and deliverables throughout development life cycle.
• Responsible for source system analysis, data mapping documents, and defining common data definitions.
• Adhere to all quality management plans and standards by participating in quality management reviews.
• Perform the creation and installation of Oracle database and to address all aspects of database administration including recoverability, integrity, security, availability, reliability, and performance.
• Manage DBA support activities. (Database installation and maintenance)
• Provide guidance in defining file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures for specific user applications
• Provide expertise in designing the logical data model and physical data model.
• Contribute to the application and technical architecture analysis, design, and implementation, and ensure that the product fulfills the requirements.
• Manage planning, reporting, implementation, and support of a large data consolidation and the database architecture for the project.
• Understands specific application area from an industry, functional, and technical perspective
• Continually broadens own technical, functional, and industry skill base
• Reports weekly status to the relevant team leaders. Identifies problems and brings them to supervisors' attention with sufficient lead time to avert crises.
