Escendent, a full service professional services firm is seeking a DB2 DBA for our client which is located in Springfield, IL. This is a contract position, 7 months to start. As long as your performance is strong, contract extension is very high (this project is slated to go through 2011).
Duration: June 30, 2010 with potential for extension. Our contract with client is through 3/2011.

Minimum Requirements:
• Candidate is an effective communicator
• 2+ years experience with the IBM AIX/Unix operating system
• 2+ years experience in database design, including normalization, foreign key relationships, index design, views and many-to-many table design.
• 2+ years experience with DB2 UDB 7.2 or greater (client is currently running v9.1).
• 3+ years experience with DB2 SQL commands, database performance tuning using DB2 Explain and evaluation of access paths.
• 3+ years experience in web application design with relational database back-end.

Application Environment:
The application is being developed using Java/J2EE programming environment. The application uses IBM WebSphere and the IBM DB2 UDB database running on IBM RS6000 servers using the IBM AIX/Unix version 5.x operating system. The application is accessed by end-users through a Novell iPortal application. All end users are registered in an LDAP-compliant Novell NDS directory. The application uses the LDAP directory for end-user authentication, providing a single sign-on environment. Novell’s Portal Server is used as a common access point for web-delivered applications and services. Microsoft Content Management Server is also used in the enterprise environment.

The enterprise environment consists of Intel servers utilizing the Novell and Microsoft server operating systems and IBM servers utilizing AIX Unix. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2 UDB database solutions are supports. IBM WebSphere and Microsoft IIS web application servers are supported. Business Objects is the standard query and reporting tool.
