C and C++ Programmer Positions (all levels- Jr/Mid and Sr)
Will consider Permanent Resident, H-1B Visa's that do not require C2C and US Citizens. Relocation is available as necessary.

This is a 5 year contract, all full-time positions with Lockheed Martin in Bethesda, MD.

Required skills - Object-Oriented programming

Specific Job Description The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) creates and maintains databases for biomedical research. These include databases of research articles and books, DNA and protein sequences, and protein and chemical structures. We are looking at new approaches to content development and delivery for our audience of researchers, clinicians and consumers.

We seek talented C and C++ programmers to develop and maintain our indexing engine (Entrez) and content delivery framework (NCBI Portal System). The Entrez indexing engine processes and makes searchable terabytes of rapidly growing biomedical information. The Portal System is NCBI’s primary web content delivery application and handles over 10 million hits from 1 million unique users every day. Both are high-performance, multi-threaded, distributed software systems running on hundreds of Linux based servers.

Flexibility and ability to learn and use new technologies quickly are essential.

Standard Job Description: Builds and codes applications and/or modules using languages such as C, C++, visual basic, ABAP, JAVA, XTML, etc. Provides patches and upgrades to existing systems. May design graphical user interface (GUI) to meet the specific needs of users. Prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. May build add-on modules using application program language.
