What makes you an industry expert for HCI?
I come to recruiting from a marcom background. I know what sells and what doesn't. Seeing the industry from this perspective has allowed us to build a more efficient brand and help our candidates get jobs faster. Our clients like it because we don't try to fit round pegs into square holes. Or lame cliches into little boxes.
Describe an ideal candidate for HCI?
Our candidates find us generally. That being said, we seem to attract mid to upper level IT professionals. Very few entry level and very few CTOs, but right there in the "upper middle class" of talent real estate is where our sweet spot is.
What separates HCI from it's competitors?
We recognize that the field of recruiting and talent management is constantly changing. While we will stick with tried and true methods of recruiting and retention, we are also going to re-evaluate constantly to make sure both clients and candidates are getting what they need from our firm.
What additional value do you provide your candidates?
We're very relational. We go beyond standard resume tweaking. We'll give honest feedback and insider tips and help you back up if the last job wasn't the right fit. Hopefully, we have done a good enough job that there are very few jobs that a candidate interviews for where they are not at least a contender.
What gets you most excited about HCI?
The fact that we're small, smart and fast. We can change and move with the industry rather than wait for the changes to benefit us. Plus we have Coke Zero in the fridge at all times.
What does it take to be successful at HCI?
A great work ethic and a sense of humor.
