Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist
Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center

Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (OLOL), based in Baton Rouge, LA, is the largest hospital in Louisiana with 700+ beds. The medical center has been recognized with the Consumer Choice award for the past 10 consecutive years, was Louisiana's Hospital of the Year in 2007, and was recently awarded the Performance Excellence Award from the Louisiana Quality Foundation.

OLOL's pharmacy employs 4 Clinical Pharmacists, 40 Staff Pharmacists, and 35 Pharmacy Technicians.

The Clinical Pharmacist enhances the quality of patient care by influencing safe, appropriate and cost-effective pharmacotheraperics through verifying medication orders, consulting with doctors and nurses on the appropriate dosing and selection of therapeutic alternatives for patients and assisting the physician by monitoring the metabolic and nutritional needs of the patient. The Clinical Pharmacist assists in the development of clinical pathways which involve monitoring protocol and compliance for medication orders, participating in quality improvement and drug utilization activities, providing documentation of services and serving as a mentor for pharmacy students.

The position reports to OLOL's Director of Pharmacy. The Clinical Pharmacist will work very closely with physicians and other allied healthcare professionals.

A Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy is required along with a clinical residency or fellowship or at least 2 yrs direct clinical pharmacy experience. The Clinical Pharmacist must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Pharmacist in the State of Louisiana. Prior Pediatric experience is preferred.
