Volt Workforce Solutions is currently looking for a Buyer/Planner to join a manufacturing company in the Santa Barbara area.

General Summary:
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for performing purchasing and planning functions. Maximizes productivity, product quality, and customer satisfaction while minimizing cost. Will follow up on availability of materials, delays and order changes, ensuring customer requirements are met. Essential Job Duties: Provides purchasing expertise in procurement of MRO and engineering prototype material. Utilize the MRP system in translating demand and supply requirements for both purchase orders and work orders. Creates and maintains purchase orders and work order integrity and documentation. Seeks continuous improvements and initiates corrective actions where applicable. Establishes and maintains supplier relationships, including contractual agreements. Requests quotes on material, satisfying bid/proposal efforts and maintaining appropriate records of these. Conducts all procurement activity in accordance with purchasing policy and procedure. Supports new product introduction teams from both a purchasing and planning perspective. Resolves all receiving discrepancies within 24 hours, invoice related problems within 48 hours and MRB issues within 15 days. Coordinates on time delivery of normal production and engineering projects, creating and maintaining Work Orders and Purchase Orders to meet production schedules. Participates in supplier quality management and cross-functional team coordination. Tracks market trends of volatile material and makes appropriate proposals to management to avoid stock-out situations. Administers and complies with all Environmental, Health and Safety policy, procedures as set forth by Federal, State and company directives. Performs other duties as assigned.

::Job Requirements::
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of purchasing and 2 years of planning, or equivalent experience, in a manufacturing environment. Experience and working understanding of Engineering Change Orders and new Supplier Qualifications is required. Must be familiar with an ERP system, both in purchasing and planning, having knowledge and experience in Pull system manufacturing, Kanban and JIT replenishment. Must be a self-starter, exercise good judgment, have good decision-making, and communication skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and progressive environment with strong interpersonal skills. Education: B.S. in business discipline preferred. Experience: 5 years experience in purchasing and 2 years in planning. Asia outsourcing experience a plus SAP experience a plus.
